Earlier this spring, I went to West Virginia with a few friends to shoot some trains and drive some back roads. Here are the photos.

While in Chicago two nights ago, the car was parked right next to a steam pipe, which gave just the right amount of vintage ambience to the normal parked-in-Chicago photos I usually take of cars I'm in charge of. capwell posted a photo:	I handle a lot of the publicity/social/photos for the RRHMA's Silvis operation. Last weekend, we opened the shop up to the public as the final pieces of UP's big donation made their way to us from Cheyenne. I got plenty of nice event shots, but sometimes the group shot tells the biggest story- it takes this many people (and more folks who aren't pictured here!) to get a project like this across the finish line. This was the culmination of a truly awesome weekend, and the future is incredibly bright for this group as we begin the actual work of restoring these pieces of history. capwell posted a photo:	I love the fact that in 2022, you can still find matched pairs of Death Star SD70s on the mainline. Here's some of La Grange's best, speeding northward through Pesotum on a truly grubby November day. capwell posted a photo:	Construction at the post office end of Chicago Union Station has shed some temporary light on the southbound tracks, which we were parked in front of for a few hours in our PVs at the back of the arriving Lakeshore last week. Here, a freshly repainted F40 hustles an outbound scoot through a few seconds of sunshine on its way to the suburbs. capwell posted a photo:	Outbound Metra scoot, glinting nicely as it exits Union Station and approaches Roosevelt Rd. capwell posted a photo:	Oak Island Yard lies in the foreground, with the Pulaski Skyway and New York City skyline visible as well. capwell posted a photo:	Big Boy, in all its splendor. Coincidentally, we had two PVs parked on an adjacent track for a week, which meant there wasn't much of a walk involved in checking out the roadshow that is Big Boy and its train and its support staff. If you have the chance to see 4014, I strongly suggest you take the opportunity- it's a truly spectacular machine. capwell posted a photo:	In a scene that's been played on a loop every night since 1977, Amtrak's first new rolling stock rests under the stars and under the wires at Sunnyside Yard. Ilford HP5, Hasselblad 500 c/m capwell posted a photo:	Sometimes, the only camera you have with you is your iPhone, and that's ok. Leaving Chicago on 48 last month, NP 549. capwell posted a photo:	Always amazed by the dynamic range of Ektar! Here are Hickory Creek and NYC 43 overnighting at SSY between Albany trips two weekends ago. more...
